Checklists for BCA accreditation regulatory guidance

Last updated: 23 November 2023

MBIE’s regulatory guidance includes checklists for organisations or individuals that want to become an accredited organisation or building consent authority (BCA).

These organisations or individuals should undertake a self-assessment of their policies, procedures and systems. This self-assessment should be made against the accreditation requirements set out in the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006 (the Regulations) and in MBIE’s regulatory guidance.

Undertaking a thorough self-assessment should support an applicant or current BCA to be prepared for the next steps in the accreditation process and assist in making an application for accreditation.

The self-assessment checklists can be used as a 'prompting' tool for checking the various components, but require users to read the full description in the guidance tool for clarification.
