Current consultations on proposed recognition notices for Approved Products Certified Overseas
Last updated: 19 August 2026
This page provides information about current consultations on proposed recognition notices for products and methods being considered under the Approved Products Certified Overseas pathway.
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment consults on proposed recognition notices before they are issued. Consultation provides an opportunity for interested parties to review and provide feedback on products, product certificates, standards, technical specifications, and other material proposed to be incorporated into a recognition notice.
Feedback received through consultation helps inform MBIE's decision of whether a recognition notice should be issued and whether any conditions or limitations should apply.
MBIE is not currently consulting on any proposed recognition notices for products certified under an overseas product certification scheme.
Consultation on the recognition of WaterMark Australia certified products – August 2026 closed at 5.00pm 18 August 2026.
What happens next
After consultation closes, MBIE reviews and considers all submissions received.
Following consideration of submissions and completion of any further technical assessment, MBIE may:
- proceed with the recognition notice as proposed
- proceed with changes to the proposed recognition notice
- introduce conditions or limitations of recognition
- decide not to proceed with recognition.
Where recognition is approved, the recognition notice will be published on the recognition notices page.
