Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods (AS and VMs) were called compliance documents. Some still have the “compliance document” title but the AS or VMs they contain are valid and unaffected by the name change.

All of the Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods relating to F8 are contained in one document.

  • F8/AS1 provides a definition of what ‘clearly visible’ means in relation to signs.  It gives a design solution to describe one way of meeting requirements through language, typography, pictograms, proportion of lettering, lit signs and contrasting colours.  It shows the appropriate features and location of signs relating to exit and safety.
  • Appendix gives a modification to the Standard relating to electromagnetic compatibility.
