1st edition, amendment 9

Effective on 14 February 2014 until 30 May 2017

Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods (AS and VMs) were called compliance documents. Some still have the “compliance document” title but the AS or VMs they contain are valid and unaffected by the name change.

All of the Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods relating to E1 are contained in one document.

  • E1/VM1 provides a means of estimating surface water run-off, the sizing of water systems, secondary flow (piped surface water system, open water course upstream, and downstream) and drain leakage tests.
  • E1/AS1 applies to buildings and sitework that are not likely to flood, as described in the limitations of the scope. It provides one means to show how drainage systems, downpipes and roof gutters can comply with clause E1.  It also provides minimum floor levels.
