Fire Engineering Brief (FEB)

All forms of alternative solution fire design benefit from discussion on the analysis methods and design acceptance criteria with key stakeholders early in the design process. This is known as the Fire Engineering Brief (FEB) process.

The following are recommended for alternative solutions:

  • follow the FEB process
  • undertake consultation with regulatory stakeholders (Fire and Emergency New Zealand, building consent authority) and the project peer reviewer
  • document the agreed principles.

Guidance on the FEB process is published by the fire sector.
