Building Advisory Panel – recruitment notice

The Deputy Chief Executive, Building, Resources & Markets, is seeking members for the Building Advisory Panel. The Panel provides independent, specialist and evidence-based advice on strategic issues facing the building and construction sector.
Applications are now open for up to eight new panel members. Applications are sought from sector leaders who can demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience in some or all of the following areas:
- building and construction industry experience
- thorough knowledge of regulatory frameworks, preferably including experience with the building regulatory system
- proficient at building and maintaining effective networks and relationships in the wider building and construction sector and ability to utilise these networks to inform advice
- able to test assumptions around decisions from a strategic perspective.
MBIE is the lead policy advisor to government on the building regulatory system. It is responsible for advice on legislation and regulations, including the Building Act and Building Code. It is important that the system we oversee remains fit-for-purpose, and supports positive long term outcomes for its users. The Building Advisory Panel needs members that supplement our technical expertise with strategic insights from across the building and construction sector. The Building Advisory Panel will provide independent strategic advice and sector intelligence on matters to the Deputy Chief Executive of Building, Resources & Markets as the Chief Executive's delegate.
Members can be based anywhere in New Zealand. Building Advisory Panel meetings will predominantly be held in Wellington, but may be held in other locations around New Zealand if necessary for the work of the Panel.
